Dear Friends of the Munich Re Foundation, Ladies and Gentlemen, |
|
Europe is currently experiencing a severe heatwave – an intense and powerful reminder that climate change is no longer a distant risk, but a reality affecting health, infrastructure, schools, workplaces and local communities. Extreme heat shows why climate action must combine mitigation, adaptation and social resilience. Protecting vulnerable groups and preparing our cities, schools and livelihoods for more frequent extremes are key.
In this newsletter, we therefore look at practical solutions from our projects for climate resilience, inclusive insurance and climate education. The focus is on informal settlements in our new RISK Award; further topics are heat-resilient schools and resilient agriculture, municipal adaptation and new insurance approaches. We also share upcoming events, learning opportunities and recent publications from our work.
